News of some additional LDAS events coming soon.

Evening ‘speed fishing’ down at Long Copse is fast becoming a tradition and our first organised event at Ashtead Park last year proved a popular addition to the calendar. You’ll be pleased to hear that we’ll be continuing and expanding on both this season.

As these events are less formal than our Senior League matches, in a change from last year, we’re inviting junior and family members to join the seniors for these events. There will still be the element of competition, with optional pools for speed fishing, but the Ashtead Park days will just be for bragging rights, although I will be trying to get my pound back of Dave T (I’m certain he hasn’t spent it yet!).

We especially hope that more of you will join us for the Ashtead Park days, as the Wildlife Pond is constantly improving and the more it’s fished, the more the resident Tench, Bream, Crucians, Rudd, Pike and, of course, Carp will get used to our baits and hopefully prove easier to catch! (I’m reliably informed that the carp have a taste for sliced white bread already – sorry Clive, your secret’s out!).

Lastly, as our senior matches don’t start for a while, the committee have allowed me to run a couple of matches during April down at Long Copse. I’m trying a mid week match as many of us are either retired or self employed!

Anyway, enough waffle. The dates for your diary are:

    Additional Long Copse Matches
Sunday 9 April – yes, short notice I know
    Thursday 20 April
Both matches – draw at 8.30, fish from 9.30 until 3.30.
The ponds will remain open to members who do not want to fish these matches.

    Wildlife Pond Fish-in Days
    Monday 1 May
    Sunday 4 June
    Sunday 30 July
Meet at the lower car park 8.30am

    Speed fishing at Long Copse
    Friday 26 May
    Thursday 8 June
    Friday 30 June
    Thursday 13 July
    Friday 25 Aug
Be at the ponds by 6pm for the draw, fish from 6.30 til 8.30 (depending on the light!)
The ponds will remain open to members who do not want to fish these matches.

There is no need to book a place for any of the above, just turn up and catch as many fish as you can!

    Tight lines,

PS. As most of you will know, I have taken over the job of Membership Secretary from Eric, who is now concentrating his efforts on representing the club as Chairman. Hopefully we’ll see him on the bank now he’s got a bit more free time. I’ll have some new membership cards with me on 9 April, so if you’re yet to join, download the form and come down to Long Copse next Sunday.
